02/10/13 FROZEN FIVE

Normal Is Boring.
February in Chicagoland normally means short, cold days, bundling up beneath 47 woolen layers, and lots of time spent indoors. But normal is boring.
The Frozen Five Trail Race is anything but normal. It’s a root leaping, rock jumping, tree dodging run through the (probably snowy) woods of Poplar Creek Forest Preserve in the heart of winter. The beautiful, looped course is normally 2.5 miles long, but being the UNusual folks that we are as trail runners, we’re going to do it twice! The course will be well marked and is great for new trail runners, while still presenting challenges for the most seasoned trail junky among us.
The race will begin at 10am on Sunday, February 10, 2013. There will be three aid stations on the course (approximately located at miles 1.5, 2.5, and 4). Free snacks, water, hot chocolate, and coffee will be available following the race and locally crafted beer will be available for purchase. Live results will be available both on our big screen on site and online immediately following the race.
Finisher’s awards will be given to all runners and awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers.
All trail runners will receive a finisher’s award, a Frozen Five sweatshirt, a race bib, and a frozen good time!
All finishers will have this race count towards the “Popes of Avignon” and “Plenary Indulgence” challenges.
