04/13/13 DOUBLE DOWN 10k & 20k

Would you like to split that?
The Double Down 10k & 20k Trail Race is a unique trail race in that you don’t sign up for a particular distance and you don’t need to decide which distance you run until you finish the first 10k. If you feel fresh and want to tackle the course again to make it a 20k, then go for it! If you get finished with the first 10k and want to call it day, then no worries! It’s completely up to you whether or not you want to “double down”!
The 10k/20k course will take you through the beautiful, tree-lined trails of the Des Plaines River Trail (click here for exact location, which is Grove 1 of Dam No. 1 Woods East). The trail is a good mix of single-track and double-track that will bring you over rocks, roots, downed trees, and other natural obstacles.
The race will begin at 9am. There is no official cut off time for the 20k, but we will have to be packed up and gone by sunset!
Following the race we will have complimentary soft drinks and a free Chicago-style hot dog bar, complete with enough celery salt and pickles to restore your depleted electrolyte levels! Stick around to listen to some music, have some grub, and cheer on the other trail runners! All runners of legal age will also receive a free beer on us!
All registered runners will receive a t-shirt, race bib (customized race bib if registered before March 31, 2013), a unique finisher’s award, one free beer for runner's of legal age, and free food following the race. Top three male and female runners in both the 10k and 20k category will receive awards.
All finishers will have their race counted towards both the “Popes of Avignon” and the “Plenary Indulgence” Challenges. NOTE: You must FINISH the event in order to have your race counted towards both of these challenges. DNSes and DNFs will not count towards the challenges.
Price schedule is as follows:
$35 until Monday, March 18.
$40 until Monday, April 1.
$45 until race day or until the race is sold out.
Get a team of 5 or more together and save! Your team does not have to sign up at the same time and you can all run the same distance or different distances. It's up to you!
